We are excited to announce we will be extending our sensory quiet time to weekends from tomorrow.
After the success of the weekday sensory quiet time and following positive feedback from the community, the initiative will now be in place every day of the week between 3pm and 3:45pm.
Sensory quiet periods are designed to reduce anxiety and sensory stress for patrons who would benefit from a quieter and less stimulating environment in the centre.
Across BALC, lights will be dimmed and background noise will be reduced where possible. The tipping buckers in the Learn to Swim pool will be turned off, and no programming will be scheduled in the pool area during the sensory quiet times.
BALC Aquatic and Leisure Services Manager, Gerald Dixon, said it was important to extend the time slots to the weekend to cater to all members of the community.
“Our feedback told us that weekend quiet periods would cater to those people that can’t get here during the week, particularly families with children in school.”
“We hope making this available 7 days a week will further increase accessibility to the centre.”
The centre will remain open to everyone during this time, but members and patrons can assist by keeping noise to a minimum during their visit.
Sensory quiet times will commence from tomorrow, Saturday 20 April 2024.
